Cece Woods, founder of Malibu Global Media Group, began her career in publishing in 2013, launching 90265 Magazine, the authentic Malibu lifestyle magazine. A year later, Woods saw a void in local activism-based journalism inspiring a hybrid-news platform, The Local Malibu. The publication quickly gained popularity quickly and the only local media instrumental in the success of two ballot measures, seating three Malibu City Councilmen in 2016 and two more in 2020. During the summer of 2018, Woods exposed the law enforcement cover-up in the Malibu Creek State Park Shootings and a few short months later provided the most comprehensive local news coverage during the Woolsey Fire, attracting over 1 million hits across her social media platforms. In 2020, Woods has launched a regional investigative news platform The Current Report , breaking the L.A. Metro Counterfeit PPE cover-up. Her commitment to exposing the corruption of former CEO Phillip Washington led to working with watchdog agencies in Washington DC ultimately resulting in Washington withdrawing his nomination to head the FAA. Woods is currently hosting Newsbeat LA, the podcast version of her investigative reporting while overseeing two new lifestyle publications, Cali Mag and Ojai Life & Style.
